Amazing Gut awarded NSW Medical Devices Fund
Amazing Gut awarded over $1.3 million to develop, build & launch in Australia.
Amazing Gut Pty Ltd have been awarded more than $1.3 million by the NSW Ministry of Health's Round 13 of the NSW Medical Devices Fund.
Ins&Outs is a TGA-cleared medical device allowing patients with functional bowel disorder to complete physiotherapy for bowel muscles in the privacy of their homes.
Functional bowel disorder is a common condition, impacting more than 4.5 million people across Australia.
Dr Zhou, CEO and Founder of Amazing Gut Pty Ltd, a Western spin-out company, was awarded $1,347,810 (excluding GST) through the highly competitive and prestigious fund to scale up commercialisation of the Western Sydney University developed device.
Dr Zhou said he was delighted with the team’s funding success, which will enable more access to the innovative treatment, which he says is currently only available in specialised clinics.
‘Support from the Medical Devices Fund and Western Sydney University will allow us to manufacture locally at Factory of the Future, launch and scale our device in Australia first. This proves medtech doesn't have to leave our shores to succeed,’ said Dr Zhou.
The NSW Ministry of Health and Round 13 of the Medical Devices Fund shot an in-depth video featuring Dr Zhou’s Ins&Outs device and Western’s state-of-the-art Factory of the Future.
